The alarm went off at 6:30am and I didn’t want to get out of bed. It’s taking me some time to get used to my new morning routine. My family and I just bought a house in a new city and my daughter’s school starts EARLY!! My days are usually full and today is especially packed with tasks because my wife is having a girls night out with her mother and sister. It’s up to me to cook dinner tonight. I’m not sweating though… I’ve got an easy, new recipe that will be perfect. Easy Louisiana Sausage and Alfredo Pasta.
I’m a big believer that sausage is good in everything. Johnsonville has a line of Fully Cooked Smoked Sausage Links that I’ve been wanting to try, so I’m going to integrate it into this dish. They’re already cooked and full of flavor, so they’re perfect for this easy weekday meal that I’m making for my daughter and I.
I picked up some of the New Orleans Spicy Smoked Sausage Links and the Beddar With Cheddar Smoked Sausage Links (Let’s be honest… Everything IS Better with Cheddar!). My family and I like Johnsonville because it has a savory, fresh, hard-wood smoked flavor. There are no fillers and they’re made with only 100% premium cuts of pork. This pasta is smoky, savory and it only takes about 25 minutes to prepare.
Easy Louisiana Sausage and Alfredo Pasta
Ingredients:
- 3 links of Johnsonville New Orleans Spicy Smoked Sausage sliced about 1/3 of an inch
- 2 links of Johnsonville Beddar With Cheddar Smoked Sausage sliced about 1/3 of an inch
- 8 ounces of bowtie pasta
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 2 tsp. of Cajun seasoning (add more to taste)
- 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded Colby Jack cheese
Instructions:
- Boil bowtie pasta until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large non-stick skillet, saute sausage on medium heat for 5 minutes.
- Add the cream and Cajun seasoning and turn up to medium heat. Bring everything to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for about 4 minutes or until everything begins to thicken.
- Remove from heat, stir in Parmesan and Colby Jack cheeses.
- Add the bowtie pasta to sauce and toss until everything is coated.
If you want to add some veggies to the recipe. Broccoli and spinach both work really well.
Enjoy!!
