This time of year is my favorite, by far! Football season is up and running, fall is in full swing, so the weather is a little cooler and there are many new fall recipes to try. One of my favorite meats to create with is pork. It’s versatile, lean, and I’m sure we can all agree, vegetarians aside, that pork is delicious in every way.
Recently, I was at my local Walmart, perusing the meat section for some dinner ideas, when I came across something new. I’m a big fan of Smithfield pork products and they have a brand new line of marinated tenderloins, loin filets, sirloins, ribs and riblets that make dinnertime super easy.
Smithfield Marinated Pork is slow-marinated in delicious seasonings for full flavor. There are 7 different varieties of 100% fresh pork to choose from, including Garlic & Herb, Portobello Mushroom, Teriyaki, Mesquite, and Rosemary & Olive Oil, so it’s easy to come up with a quick recipe for your family any night of the week. And if you need any dinnertime inspiration, check out the Smithfield Website for plenty of easy recipe ideas.
I decided to make my wife and daughter one of my favorite party snacks, with a little  “fall” spin on it. Who doesn’t love sliders!? They are good for lunch, dinner, and of course, snacks. Now, with Smithfield Marinated Pork all you have to do is put your pork of choice in the oven or on the grill. There’s no prep time because the seasonings and marinades are already in the loin. I decided to roast my Garlic & Herb Pork Loin Filet in the oven, and while it was cooking, I sliced up some granny smith apples. Pork and apples are an ideal combination. Here’s my recipe for Smithfield Marinated Pork Sliders with Apples & Goat Cheese.
Smithfield Marinated Pork Sliders with Apples &Â Goat Cheese
- 1 Smithfield Garlic And Herb Marinated Pork Loin Filet
- 1 Granny Smith Apple Diced Into Small Ribbons
- 8oz Crumbled Goat Cheese
- 1 Package of Slider Buns
- 1 Jar of Applesauce
Directions
- Put your pork in a shallow pan and cook it for 20 minutes per pound at 425 degrees. Once the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees, pull it out of the oven and let it rest for at least 10 minutes.
- Once the meat has rested, cut into slices. I prefer thicker slices for this recipe.
- Place once slice of pork on each slider bun. Top with granny smith apple ribbons and goat cheese crumbles.
- Serve it with a side of applesauce for dipping. This is where the magic happens!
The combo of the garlic & herb pork with the apples and goat cheese is beyond delicious. The side of applesauce brings me back to my childhood (my mother ALWAYS served applesauce with pork), and along with the tender & juicy pork tenderloin flavor, it really enhances the flavor. The apple ribbons provide the perfect amount of crunch, and the goat cheese lends a little creaminess. If love pork & apples, you really should give it a try this fall.
