As the parent of a tween girl (Have you started feeling bad for me yet?) I’ve noticed that her tastes in entertainment, clothes, music, food and everything else on the planet are changing constantly. But she loves her Netflix! They have so much great content, no matter what phase she is going through, Netflix has her covered. I like to check out what she’s watching because I want to be the cool dad that’s up to date on everything. Nobody wants a derpy dad. Yep, derpy. That’s a word that tween girls use quite frequently. See, I am the cool dad. I’m keeping up on the lingo! Here are a few of the shows that she is digging on right now.
Dawn of the Croods -Â Eep, Grug, Thunk, Ugga, Sandy and Gran are back. Follow them as they meet new friends, outrun new creatures and encounter “firsts” the world has never seen – such as school, slumber parties, hiccups and elections.

Dragons: Race To The Edge – I’m a big fan of the How To Train Your Dragon movies and this series is every bit as clever and fun. Unlock the secrets of the Dragon Eye and come face to face with more dragons than anyone has ever imagined as Hiccup, Toothless and the Dragon Riders soar to the edge of adventure.
Degrassi: Next Class – Everyone’s favorite Canadian teen drama was resurrected by Netflix and just recently debuted. I thought she was a little young for this show. But we watched a few episodes together and it sparked some really good conversation in our house. Also, we found ourselves saying “aboot” quite a bit. Degrassi Next Class follows the lives of the students from Degrassi Community School, a fictional high school in Toronto. It is the 5th series in the Degrassi franchise and the first two seasons have been filmed. It will tell the stories of a new generation of students as they navigate their way through high school dealing with real life issues and situations that teenagers actually go through such as Cyber Bullying, Mental illness, Homophobia, racism, drug use, feminism, sexuality, religion, life threatening diseases, online harassment, catfishing and dysfunctional families.
