I cannot wait to see Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy! August 1st can’t come soon enough. I haven’t had so much pent up anticipation about a film since Marvel’s The Avengers. The early buzz on the film is VERY positive.

I’m finally going to admit it and I don’t care what people think… I LOVE The Hunger Games!!!

I’ve read all of the books, I own all of the movies and I’m really excited for the final two films The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2. If you haven’t read the books, I would really encourage you to give them a try. I know, they’re considered YA novels, but author Suzanne Collins is a fantastic writer and crafted a fully realized dystopian society complete with characters that literally jump off the page.

I took a lot of flack for letting my 10-year-old watch the films and read the books, most of my friends thought the content was inappropriate and too violent. I’m sorry, there aren’t a lot of female role models in any form of media these days, unless you want your daughter to turn out a selfish, twerking, money hungry, power mad, fledgling reality star with an 85 I.Q who does her first stint in rehab at 19 and then sells her story to the tabloid with the highest bid.

I’m just sayin’.

The heroine in The Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen, is selfless and strong. She puts her family and friends first, she is smart and resilient. She is a well written fictional character that has strong sense of self and values that girls can identify with. That being said, here is the official trailor and some great photos from the latest film. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 arrives in theaters November 21st.

 

 

 

It’s been way too long since we last saw our good friends Harry and Lloyd, almost 20 years. But, the boys are back and they are “Dumber” than ever!

The original “Dumb and Dumber” might have been the funniest and most quoted films of all the 90’s. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels seemed like the most mismatched comedy team EVER! Something about these guys was pure comic gold and it looks like the sequel is not going to let all of us fans down.

There’s a whole new generation that is going to discover these beloved characters and a former generation that has been waiting for a little slice of comic heaven… A little movie where the beer flows like wine, a little movie called Dumb and Dumber To!

This summer, movies have been dominated by Spider-Man, X-Men and Godzilla. Move over boys… The ladies just crashed your party.

Last night I saw a sneak preview of the movie Maleficent and I was blown away! It’s been a little while since we’ve seen Angelina Jolie and it was worth the wait. Maleficent is one of the best fantasy movies I’ve seen in a long time. Flipping the script on the traditional Sleeping Beauty story, we get to see an origin picture that delves deeper into the fable.

Told from the point of view of the “villain”, the audience is taken on an truly original journey. Maleficent lives in a world populated by fairies and other fantastic creatures, she is the most powerful fairy and a protector of her world. Humans are constantly trying to invade and are seen as their only enemy. I don’t want to give too much away because the real beauty of this film is watching it unfold, but Maleficent falls in love with a human who eventually betrays her in a truly awful way and pushes her to the dark place where we eventually find her in this popular children’s story.

Angelina Jolie was born to play this role. Easy and graceful, the audience is quickly reminded what a wonderful actress she is. She brings the complexity of the character to a level that I thought wouldn’t be possible. Even through some dark moments, you can relate with her on a very human level. Yes, you end up rooting for the villain.

First time director Robert Stromberg creates a fully realized fantasy world that is simply amazing. Fast paced and visually stunning, this Oscar winning art director takes the audience on a journey that is unexpected and wonderfully satisfying. He has worked with James Cameron and Tim Burton and it is obvious that he has picked up some storytelling techniques that are going to put him on the same level as his mentors.

This movie is perfect for the whole family. My 10 year old daughter loved it, there was a 5 year old boy sitting in front of us that literally sat on the edge of his seat the whole time and adults will get drawn in by the humor and great performances.

This is a summer movie that delivers on all levels and will eventually become a family classic. I’m already planning on seeing it again!

Walt Disney Animation Studios has released the trailer for their 54th animated film, “Big Hero 6″. Based on the Marvel comic of the same name, this trailer looks REAL COOL!

The film is going to have all the humor and heart we’ve come to expect from Walt Disney Animation Studios. “Big Hero 6” is an action packed comedy-adventure about Hiro Hamada who learns to harness his genius – thanks to his brilliant brother Tadashi and their group of friends.

When a devastating turn of events catapults them into the midst of a devastating plot unfolding in the streets of San Fransokyo, Hiro turns to his closest companion, a robot named Baymax and transforms the group into a band of high-tech heroes determined to solve the mystery.

“Big Hero 6” opens nationwide November 7th in 2D and 3D theaters everywhere.
